Are we there yet???

I wish I could say that the kids were asking that, but it was me. I got a later start than planned, then I had a list of things to do and buy before I could go home and make sure all the lists I left were done. Oh yeah...I still had to go by the vets office and get the health certificate. By 5:30, we all were packed and ready to hit the road. Which means we would not get to Houston until at least 10:30. This does not include bathroom breaks and dinner. I think I can handle the drive straight through to Austin better than a couple of stops to Houston. The road keeps getting longer and longer. Are we ever going to be there? Finally, after reading Madison's Twilight movie book and watching Matagascar (sp) we are finally in Houston. Yeah!!!! Now, we get to drive back home on Sunday.

Happy Birthday Madison

Today is Madison's birthday. She does not turn14 officially until 5:45 p.m. She was being pokey back in 1995 and still to this day she is pokey. She make 4 dozen cupcakes to share with her class and the teachers. I had to beg to get one myself. She will get out of school early but not for her birthday, we are leaving for the Houston Stock Show. I know that is just how she wants to spend her birthday, traveling with pigs. At least she got some cool gifts. I found the Twilight movie companion book and she is getting a new rhinestone belt. I have to admit the belt is quite nice. She will wear this for showing. We saw it while in Ft Worth and all the girls showing had one, so of course we had to get one too.

B' credible

Since the major shows are over, we are now focusing on county shows. Since we did not have any heifers that we could show at county, we bought a new pig. Just what we need, another animal. That puts the count to 58 animals. This time it is a barrow, we've only had gilts. The ladies (Bella, Lola, & Daphane) are not thrilled to have a new barn mate. NOT!!! They have tried to start a fight almomst everyday. The good thing is I do not have to worry about him breeding them. He's been fixed. And he will not be staying for long. He is pretty cute and small. Too bad, that will not last.

Deals at Divine Consign

I am so tired...I shopped early and because of that I had to volunteer to work the sale. I have done the breakdown shift and that is hard work. This time I worked one of the busiest times. Opening day to the public. There were a few people that bought a lot of stuff and I mean A LOT. That is good. I hope they bought all of my stuff. I did find some really good deals. Liam got a new big boy bed. I am sure the man that loaded this in my car wanted to say,"Are you crazy, you want to put this in what car?" Yep, can you put that bed in that car. When I got home, Liam was so excited to see his bed. He jumped on it and wanted to watch a movie. He is still in our room. I need to move him upstairs, but I am afraid of how he might fall down the stairs and get hurt. Especially since he is accident prone. Maybe in a few months...we'll see.

Twilight/New Moon

Ok, I finished Twilight in 4 and 1/2 days, bought New Moon, Eclipse, & Breaking Dawn. I finished New Moon on Saturday and am hoping to start Eclipse soon. It is very hard to keep Madison from telling me the exciting parts I have yet to read. She has already spoiled one part only because I asked and she slipped and told me. It is ok, I knew it was going to happen. I was not as into New Moon, but felt if I skipped any parts I would miss something or I would not understand something later. Madison had told me that New Moon was sad and it was to a point. I am starting to get sad that I am almost finished with the series. I'm just glad I do not have to wait for the next book to come out. They are all stacked on the table waiting for me. As for Edward, the person playing him in the movie is not what I had him picutred as. I sort of picutred a Cristiano Ronaldo/Justin Timberlake looking person. If there is such. Maybe Robert Pattinson fits the part better. I have not seen the movie. But, I cannot wait for it to come to DVD on March 21st. I will definately be buying this one.

What is all the Twilight fuss???

Ok, I now know why everyone is gaga over the Twilight series. Madison, April, and countless other people have recommended that I read this book. Well....now, I have started the first book and can not wait to get the chance to read it again. It is predictable sometimes and it does not help that Madison asks where I am and has this or that happened. I might have to read the next one. I'm definately seeing the movie.

Opossum

We've had a opossum in the pig barn a few nights, thanks to Madison calling me to let me know. So, we decided to set a trap and catch him. Like we need another animal. The last opossum we had, was sitting on the porch by the back door eating dog food. When I opened the back door, the opossum just looked at me like he was suppose to be there. As you can imagine, I screamed. Making Brett come and get rid of it. They are scarry little things. I'm not sure if he would have attacked but I was not taking any chances. Here is a pic of out catch.

Some are hard lessons learned

Tonight we all went to feed the 3 little pigs. Now, let me paint the scene. The pigs are in their own barn, complete with Christmas lights. There are slabs of concrete for the pigs and dirt everywhere else. I'm sure you know where this is going. When Gavin waters the pigs he does not cut the hose off, he leaves it running going from pen to pen. This wets the dirt making it mud. Lola & Daphane always turn over their water before we are even out of the barn. Mix the mud with the water from Gavin & the water from the pigs and you have a MUDDY MESS. Well...tonight Liam wanted to go in with Gavin. We tried to explain that it was too muddy and he might fall. Liam was still insisted that we was going in. OK, go in. He took three or four steps and fell in the mud mixture. Oh yeah, there are a few presents in this mix as well I'm sure. If you have children you know the cries they can produce. This cry that Liam let out was of sheer pain and disgust. His pants, hands, and me. He then wanted me to carry him to the house. Was he crazy??? I'm not getting that stuff on me. The good thing is he was wearing mud boots, so at least his feet were clean. The 20 feet to the house, all he could do was cry that he fell in the pig's yard. Ok, he said, Pig poop. I tried to tell it was just mud but the more I said that the more he said Pig poop. I had to take his clothes off outside the back door. I'm not sure how to wash them. I'm not sure I will. There is no picture of this as I was trying to comfort him. I thought that would add insult to injury. Now, I wish I had a picture.
